School of Woodcraft Founded in 1907 as a Training School for Wood Industry, it functioned initially in the Mihai Viteazu Street in a building, which no longer exists today. Three years later, the school moved to its actual building. In the interwar period, the school name was changed twice: its initial name, School ofArts and Craft was changed into Industrial School for Boys. Later the school name was changed a few more times, but its profile has always remained the same: woodworking. The present school built in 1910 preserves almost all of the original structural elements and decorations, despite the renovations made after the 1944 bombing. The massive building with three wings and four levels was the school of around 400 students in the interwar period. Its sober faţade built in neoclassical style is decorated with geometrical ornaments. There are two groups of statues at the main entrance which is flanked by four columns. These statues present young apprentice boys holding carpenter tools in their hands. 138
