Unio High School

In 1828, Roman Catholic Bishop of Satu Mare, János Hám bought the land on which the actual school is situated, in order to build a boarding school for poor students. The building, constructed in 1842, housed 40 children, but the demands were higher.Thus, in 1913, initiated by Bishop Tibor Bornemisza, next to this old building a new one was constructed offering accommodation to 150 students. The monumental entrance of this two-storied building is at the intersection of Mihai Eminescu and Cuza Voda streets. Above the main entrance the

statue of the Holy Virgin can be found, placed in a niche.
