A telep főként eklektikus stílusú, földszintes villái egységes benyomást nyújtanak. Kivételt képeznek a két vagy három szintes sarokházak, földszintjükön üzlethelyiséggel. hk. ' ■ *■&*/* J-ir The Clerk's Quarter During the 18th century the site of the Clerk's Quarter, called Dinnyéskert (Garden of Melons) was separated from the island where the city and the Satu Mare fortress had been situated by an arm of the river Someş. After the channeling works, this arm of the river was dried up, at the beginning of the 19th century, while only one part remained as a lake, until the end of the century, on the site of the today Titulescu Sguare. The constructions in the area began in the last part of the 19th century following a well-established project, in order to transform the whole region into a residential area designed for the numerous municipal and officials clerks of the different institutions of the city. Around the year 1910, the district was in full extension, especially around Gabriel Georgescu street (then Vajay street). It was the interwar period when the residential area gained its actual size being located in the area delimited by Crinului, Bujorului and Caişilor streets. The buildings in the area are marked by their uniform aspect. Single-level villa-type buildings with eclectic decorations on their fagades are prevalent here. Some corner houses are exceptions, though, as they are two- or three-storied ones, they host small shops or stores on the ground-floor. 110
