Bălu, Daniela: Multiculturalitate şi identitate etnică (Satu Mare, 2008)
Under the generic of syntagma "Together in diversity", the year 2008 promote the variety, the knowledge and understanding of European cultures, opening many opportunities of dialogue, bringing them together in a complex of an international manifestations belonging to "The European Year of Intercultural Dialogue". The photo - documentary exhibition "Multiculturality and ethnical identity" organized by County Museum of Satu Mare with the occasion of “The European Year of Intercultural Dialogue", promote, through the photographical images, the multicultural values and interethnical relations, the ethnocultural diversity specific to the ethnic groups from 4 countries: Romania (the county Satu Mare and Maramureş), Hungary, Ukraine and Slovakia, the intercultural dialog being reflected through the photographical exemplification of peculiarity symbols and of the cultural mutual collisions, that is developed naturally into a space in which live together by centuries Romanians, Magyars, Slovakians, Ukrainians, etc. Accomplished through an extensive pluridisciplinary research which has as main theme the study of the influence of Germanic population on the material and spiritual culture characteristic to the people from those 4 countries, the photographical documents provoke to an comparative landing by the acquaintance of the culture of “the other", component of European cultural diversity. The presentation of daily's aspects which reflected the intercultural relations, the image about themselves or the image about the other, the acceptation of the vitiation are structured in 6 main themes of exposure: religion, handicrafts, occupations, habitudes and rituals, traditional and contemporary costumes. Taking over the saying "My country is Europe" (Franz Liszt), the exhibition stimulated the visitor to pass the threshold of his own home, advancing into the generous and complex world of living together. 5
