556 Io an Horga “Schematismus...”3 4 and we have proceeded to a “mirror” type presentation of the weight of the population of each confession in comparison with the distribution of mixed marriages in the respective parish. There followed an analysis of the weight of mixed marriages in comparison with the total number of marriages in each parish. As there are many gaps among the registers at the parishes, we have tried to find an appropriate formula. For this we have benefited the information of the “Recensământul din 1880” and “Recensământul din 1900” where the population is presented according to the age. First we totalled the population “apt” to get married by cumulating two groups of age (15-19 years old and 20-39 years old). Then, using the following formula Total number of apt population/Total number of GC Total number of the population from the parish/24 (NR of years between 15- 39) we have been able to find out the approximate numbers of marriages. For example the case of the parish of Sambata in 1900: (96+220)/641 = 10,27 marriages. Total 821/24 Ignoring the possibility of error of 0.3% we refer to 10 marriages. The register of marriages from Sambata from 1900 registers 10 marriages in that year5. There are, of course, cases when the registers of marriages contain other numbers regarding the marriages from a parish, but the possibility of error can not overpass 3%. 1. The structure of the population on confessions in the parishes where mixed marriages took place in 1900 In the case of the series as well as in the case of the witnesses, we have grouped the parishes according to the districts of archpriests existing in 1900 and to their reports. In “Schematismus..." the diocese of Oradea was divided in 19 vice-archidiaconal districts. They appear in the priests’ reports with the name of districts of archpriests, term that we also used in this research6. 3 *** Recensământul din 1900.
