Ukrainian church literature. Miihailo Dmetrovici Popovici (1908-1956) was born in the village of Veliki Komiate. He was writer and journalist and became known through his book: “Gânduri despre Verhovina” (Thoughts on Verhovina). Like other ethnic groups in the County of Ugocea, Ukrainians have brought their contribution to the individualization of this wonderful land, each ethnic group managing to preserve their particularities and to pass on the cultural heritage. This cultural diversity has given this area a note of originality, creating opportunities of research for specialists. Ugocea was located at the interference area between the three main blocks of population - the Hungarians from the plain area, the Romanians from south and the Ruşinii from the northnortheast. Starting with the 14th century, these three ethnic groups maintained a permanent contact and have influenced each other in a positive way. In the 20th century, a particular world took shape, which not only that has preserved the ethnic traditions but it created a new system of local tradition.
