Ţesături Тканини Szőttesek Textiles with decorative elements of other ethnic groups: the Romanians, the Hungarians etc. Each country house of the Ukrainians is a traditional museum which represents the original form preserved and transmitted over the centuries. The activity of decorating the house was the exclusive duty of women, who would use their talent and aesthetic taste in making all the woven fabrics of the house, dressing up the walls of the house or covering different pieces of furniture. They depict cosmic motifs, the tree of life, magic birds sending messages in the after-life and bringing luck to the householder where they would choose to build the nest. These motifs are symbols of the spirituality of a people. There was a true cult of using the traditional weaved towels. They were used at the wedding ceremony together with the knot-shaped bread which would greet the young couple at the exit from the church. The baby was covered with it as well during baptism, and godparents would also wear it. The weaved fabrics used inside the traditional house as art objects were also of daily usage. They match perfectly the elements of decoration in architecture and the traditional furniture creating a decorative assembly of great aesthetic value. The traditional culture, the customs, make up an important chapter in the life of Ukrainians from Ugocea.
