Ciubotă, Viorel (szerk.): Patrimoniu multietnic (Satu Mare, 2009)

The former area of the county of Ugocea is a great model of culture and patrimony, a place of interferences and peaceful living together that generated a multicultural universe. It was located at the junction of the Romanian - Ukrainian - Hungarian borders, as much as at the confluence of the three ethnic units: Romanian -Ukrainian - Hungarian. Living in a multicultural region, the inter-ethnic influences were inevitable, and the political changes of the 20th century have led to profound changes in the social, cultural and spiritual fields. The name of the county, Ugocea, probably originates in the diminutive name of a person, Ugo + suffix -ca, first assigned to a village, possibly the district village of the royal comes.
