Personalities of he commune

Personalities of the commune Gavril Lazăr de Purcăreţi was born in Pomi (Satu Mare County) in 1839. He followed a church and teaching career, becoming a teacher at Beiuş Gymnasium and later an archdeacon. He distinguished himself by his activity within the Romanian National Party of Transylvania, which member he was, and as participant in the Memorandum Movement (1892-1894). In his late life, he served as Priest in Sanislău. He died in 1907, at the age of 68, and he was buried in the cemetery chapel. Another personality, whose activity is related to Sanislău is priest Alexa Pop. As Archdeacon of Sanislău, he openly opposed to the incorporation of Sanislău parish to the Greek Catholic Bishopric of Hajdúdorog. In 1913, his refusal to change the language of the parish seal from Romanian into Hungarian caused his change from the position of Archdeacon. In 1918, he is one of the most famous members of the Romanian National Council of Carei. Born at Vezendiu in 1892, priest Josif Pataki moved to Sanislău after marrying Gavril Lazăr de Purcăreţi’s daughter, Carolina. He works as a priest and teacher in the village until his father-in-law’s death in 1907, when he gets to the parish of Săsar Cruce în cimitirul romano-catolic Sírjel a római katolikus temetőben Cross in the Roman Catholic cemetery 29
