The presence of the Báthori family in the area ended with the death of the last male descendant of the family, Gabriel Báthori, in 1613. Starting from this year, the whole Ecedea domain, including the village of Sanislău, entered in the possession of the Royal Treasury. Later, in 1654, it is donated to George Rákóczi I, Prince of Transylvania. The domain, containing no less than 80 villages at this time, remained in the property of the family until the end of the century. In contrast to the relative early and more or less complete source material on the history of the landlords, the life of the villagers can be reconstructed later, starting with the second half of the 17th century. The written sources of this period, created by the landlords, because of their increasing interest toward the economic efficiency, record exact data on the productivity of peasants work and the tax collected from them. In 1672, when one of the first complete written record of this type for the Ecedea Domain is dated, Sanislău appears as one of the largest settlement in the area, with 48 inhabiting families. The size of the village was, however, much bigger, with 56 still empty parcels, which would have doubled the number of inhabitants, in case they had been populated.
