Berea Despite its geographical proximity, the village of Berea has had a completely different history as com­pared to that of Ciumeşti. Its existence was attested for the first time in the written sources, in year 1204, with reference to Cristofor of Berea of the Kaplo­­ny kindred. The village remained in the kindred’s property until the first half of the 14th century, when the available sources attest that the village of Berea belonged to the Berey and Darahy families of the Csák kindred. Due to the relative early period, with the lack of sources, the events which brought along the property transfer are not known. The Csák kin­dred was native of Veszprém and Zala counties, and it reached Satu Mare county around 1320, through its branch that would give rise to the Darahy family. This family, becoming the owner of the village of Berea, was to be known, according to the customs of the period, as the Berey family, calling themselves according to the estate of residence.
