Crucişor

Iegherişte to Poiana Codrului, and it functioned here from 1801. In 1902 it was modernized and became thus the best-known glass factory in the region. Except for a few years, the Rényi family owned it from 1822 up to the second half of the 20th century. The first workers were brought from Austria. After 1989 the factory with old traditions only survived for a short while and lat­er it was closed. Cosma Andrei (1843-1918), publicist and lawyer, director of Silvania bank and activist in the Memorandum movement was born in Poiana Codru­lui. The local Roman Catholic church was built in 1901, while the Orthodox church Apostles St. Peter and Paul was built in 1973.
