CONTRIBUŢIA TĂŞNĂDENILOR LA REALIZAREA MARII UNIRI. CONTEXTE CULTURAL ISTORICE1 Diana KINCES Abstract: (Contributions of the people from Tăşnad to the achievement of the Great Union from 1918. Cultural and historical contexts) The Romanian unity, made on 1 December 1918, comes from the past, but sends us with generosity to the future. A century ago, in the grace year 1918, all the vital energies of the Romanian people were brought together to form the Great Romania. The decisions taken by the Romanian nation, through its most authorized representatives, democratically elected and reunited in Chişinău, Cernăuţi and Alba lulia, have marked forever the destiny of our nation. Romania did not reformed itself then, but it was actually found between its natural borders, bringing under the protection of the same state the majority of Romanians, for the first time in history The moment of 1 December 1918 was not a sudden outbreak of patriotism for the Romanians in the Tăşnad area, it was prepared long ago, by important events and actions that contributed to the achievement of national unity: participation in the Blaj Assembly in March 1848 (loan Pop Suduranu, Demetrius Coroianu jr.), the activity of Astras XIth department in the area of Tăşnad and Şimleu, which was already functioning in 1870, the memorandum movement of 1892 (priest Antoniu Báliban, lawyer Andrei Cosma, Vasile Mureşan, Augustin Ossian, Demetriu Coroianu jr etc.), the fruitful activity of the Astra department of Tăşnad starting with 1907, the establishment of the Romanian bank Vulturul (Eagle) of Tăşnad. The Romanians from the electoral circle of Tăşnad gathered on November 22, 1918 and they form the Romanian National Council from Tăşnad who delegate 5 members to represent the Tăşnad electorate at the Romanian National Assembly in Alba lulia. The participants from Tăşnad to the Alba lulia Grand Assembly were law delegates and substitute delegates, representatives of the Tăşnad electoral circle, and representatives of the villages and of the Sălaj’s teaching staff. They had the privilege of being in the middle of the events and living such an event marked not only the lives of their contemporaries but also their successors, the generations to come.
