Art Nouveau at Satu Mare: The building of „Dacia” Hotel Summary The present work's aim is to present the most spectacular building from the city of Satu Mare, the „ Daria” Hotel, built in 1901 according to the plans of the architects Bálint Zoltán (1871-1939) and Frommer (Jámbor) Tajos (1869-1955), dignified descendants and devoted successors of the spirit initiated by Techner Ödön in the architecture of 1900 Style. The building of Daria of Daria Hotel was conceived in the manner of Art Nouveau, the floral variant inspiredfrom folk tradition. The value of the monument is considerably emphasized by the presence of enameled ceramics, manufactured in the famous Zsolnay factory from Pécs. The whole building reflects the architects’ aspiration towards originality and synthesis. The effects are increased by the diversity of the used materials, the fluidity of the lines, and the sinuos calligraphy of the forms. As a heritage from Baroque, we could mention the avoidance of straight lines and acute angles, as well as the emphasis laid on the central register. Kenaissancce is also present by means of the lantem-turrett, which crowns the projected central register. The special combination of differentfloral motifs (tulip, lily and pomegranate) also reminds us of Renaissancce. Because of the laced superior horizontal register, the whole building gets the delicate and elegant aspect of a folk embroidery. Fig.l
