Câteva consideraţii asupra colecţiilor Kovács 69 Some appreciations about the Kovács collections (Summary) The three “Kovács” collections, which were bought by the Museum from Baia Mare 1961, by the Museum from Carei 1967 and by the Museum from Satu Mare 1977, were collected by Gyula Kovács, the Calvinist prist of Berea village betweem 1951 - 1977. The "Kovács" collection bought by the Museum from Baia Mare nr. inv. 438 - 12.562, in 1961. To this collection also belog the find from Curtuiuşeni, 12.972 - 12.994; Sanislău, 996; Foieni, 12.997, 13.020; Valea lui Mihai 13.021 - 13.057. The “Kovács” collection bought by the Museum from Carei nr. inv. 613 - 1276, in 1967 and by the Museum from Museum Satu Mare nr. inv. 30.463 - 31.439, in 1977. During this peiod of time there were identified about 100 archeological settlements and there were gathered almost 20.000 fonds dated from different ages, from the Mezolitic Age to the Middle Feudal Age. All these finds were discovered on the fields of Ciumeşti, Berea, Sanislău, Foieni and Viişoara villages or at some far localities as Curtuiuşeni, Valea lui Mihai. These collection impelled the archeological discoveries in the region of Sanislău village between 1962 - 1967, but the “Kovács” collections on the whole was not analysed from a scientific point of wiew through it had great importance in the archeological discoveries of the North-Western part of Transylvania. The analyse of Kovács collection is difficult because there is not enought description about the finds. After ten years of archeological activities in the region of Sanislău village I could identify 90% of the places where the finds were located by Kovács Gyula. We have continue the excavations for controlling the maintained information as concerns the “Kovács ” collections.
