Studia bot. hung. 39, pp. 149-170, 2008 THE HERBARIUM OF ENDRE JENEY (1934-2004) II. LEGUMINOSAE D. PlFKÓ Department of Botany, Hungarian Natural History Museum H-1476Budapest, Pf. 222, Hungary; pifko@bot.nhmus.hu Approximately 930 specimens of the Leguminosae material of the hetbarium of Endre Jeney are revised and presented in this paper. This part of his collection consists of 141 taxa mostly from Hungary (90%), and from other countties (e.g. Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Tunisia) from 1954 up to 2001. Key words: Fabaceae, herbarium, Jeney, Leguminosae INTRODUCTION A total of 18,000 specimens of the herbarium of Endre Jeney ( 1934-2004) was purchased by the Hungarian Natural History Museum in 2006. This collection contains predominantly identified but mostly unpublished plant specimens mostly from Hungary, and additional material from other countries including Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, from the 1950s up to 2004. A more detailed account and the characteristic features of this herbarium were presented by BARINA (2007), and the biography of Endre Jeney was written by DANCZA (2007). Publishing just a few records of his own floristical results (BARINA 2006, DANCZA 2007), the main part of the Jeney collection remained practically unknown within and outside Hungary. Due to recent taxonomic and nomenclatural changes a thorough taxonomic or name revision is necessary in many cases. The pteridophyte specimens (320) were revised and published by BARINA (2007). The revisional work on the whole Leguminosae material (ca 930 specimens) of the Jeney herbarium was carried out as part of the present author's taxonomic and floristical investigations on the Hungarian Chamaecytisus species (PIFKÓ 2004, 2005^, b, 2007).
