CONCLUSIONS A total of 22 names of Cytisus was used by Pál Kitaibel in his herbarium and diaries. Some of these taxa, like C. alpinus, C. austriacus, C. biflorus, C. capitatus, C. hirsutus, C. laburnum, C. nigricans, C. pendulinus, C. prostratus, and C. supinus have been described earlier. Three taxa were described by Kitaibel himself, these are C. falcatus, C. elongatus, and C. leucanthus. Additionally, taxa named by him only in his diaries were published by others: C. serotinus was published by DE CANDOLLE in 1825, or C. pullulans and C. scepusensis by KANITZ (1863a). However, Kitaibel gave an exact description of C. corymbosum in his diary, but this plant was published later under the name C. rochelii. For this species, he applied three different names coined by him (C. intermedius, C. médius, C thyrsiflorus), and another unpublished name, C. pallidus, was also used for this species and for other taxa with pale yellow flowers. It is to be noted that in his diaries and on specimen labels he used all three subspecies names of Ch. triflorus agg. (invented by him: subsp. leucotrichus = C serotinus, subsp. falcatus — C falcatus, subsp. ciliatus — C. scepusensis), which are also native to the Carpathian Basin. Priority of these names should be evaluated in the future. The names of Cytisus used by Kitaibel are listed in alphabetical order, followed by the currently recognised taxon names he applied that name for. C. alpinus: L. alpinus. C. austriacus: Ch. austriacus, Ch. heuffelii, Ch. rochelii, Ch. virescens. This name was applied by him for different taxa of the Ch. austriacus agg., as well as for Ch. rochelii, similar to Ch. virescens (as can be seen in his early references, which was changed later).
