RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Vegetation of the Öreg-hegy Grasslands On the plateau (250-235 m) and on the slopes facing south-southwest (250-200 m), where sandstone is not covered by sand deposits, closed steppe veg­etation occurs that is threatened by intensive invasion of shrubs. Sandy grasslands and pastures occur at lower parts (up to 220-240 m), where a shallow or deeper sand mantle covers the sandstone. They are also threatened by the spread of shrubs. Table 1.
