Bauer, Norbert: Vascular flora of the hill Strázsa-hegy and its vicinity (Pilis Mts, Hungary)
The 665 vascular plants occurring in this small area comprises about 30% of the complete flora of present-day Hungary which is an extremely high proportion for the area just a little larger than 2.5 km 2 . The general history of the past 100 years has probably made significant changes in the flora of this area. Some rare taxa have probably disappeared from the flora and most of the invasive species (Ailanthus altissima, Elaeagnus angustifolia, Asclepias syriaca, etc.) have penetrated within the last 100 years. The most active period of changes has been the last four decades, when Ádám Boros still could find Ephedra distachya, Carex ericetorum and we can hardly find notes referring to degradation in his records. (Currently the only activity causing degradation is grazing of different intensity and the opening of some small stone-pits). The distribution of floristical elements reflects the phytogeographical feature of a certain area. By comparison of the percentage of floristical element groups the phytogeographical position of the study area can be determined. The floristical element composition of Strázsa-hegy and its vicinity, compared to that of the Hungarian flora (HORVÁTH et al. 1995) highlights the special floristical features of the area. In that regard, it shows intermediate characteristics that may be attributed location, which is in the meeting point of the abovementioned three phytogeographical units. 30 • Hungarian flora • Flora of the Strázsa-hegy OFIora of the Tábla-hegy Fig. 1.
