STUDIA BOTANIGA HUNGARICA (Antea: Fragmenta Botanica) XX. 1938 p. 77-94 The diatom collection of László Vida By K. BUCZKÓ (Received November 30, 1987) Abstract: The diatom collection of the Botanical Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum recently acquired 439 permanent diatom slides containing samples of several algologically unexplored waters of Hungary. This paper gives full details of these slides representing the result of more than 10 years of research by LÁSZLÓ VIDA as well as recent elaboration by the author. The Botanical Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum was donated the diatom collection of LÁSZLÓ VIDA on 8th October, 19 86. The majority of the collection originates from the algologically unexplored waters of the Bakony Mountains. We handed these slides over to the Bakony Natural History Museum (Zirc). The remaining collection consisting of 439 slides of 292 samples was accessed to the Botanical Department. Forty three samples (63 slides) of these originate from European countries other than Hungary [[Czechoslovakia, Rumania (Transylvania), Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Norway]. The greatest value of this collection is that it covers a number of areas algologically unexplored as yet. All the samples are accurately documented, the reports describe the taxa found according to their Fig. 1 A map of the sampling localities (1= Szalafő, 2= Őriszentpéter, 3= Ivánc, 4= Halogy, 5= Kám, 6= Szany, 7= Héviz, 8= Keszthely, 9= Balatonudvari, 10= Balatonfüred, 11= Tata, 12= Alcsutdoboz, 13= Dömös, 14= Dunabogdány, 15= Tahi, 16= Visegrádi hegység Mts, 17= Vácrátót, 18= Dunaföldvár, 19= Kiskunhalas, 20= Lillafüred, 21= Bükk Mts)
