Révay, Ágnes: Dematiaceous Hyphomycetes inhabiting forest debris in Hungary II.
1-septate, with a dark brown band at the septa, 9-10 x 3-4 jum. In Europe it is a common lignicolous hyphomycete but only some data are known from Hungary. HOLUBOVÁ-JECHOVÁ (1979) reported it from rotten wood of Betula sp. and Fagus siivatica . - Found on dead wood, near the stream Morgó-patak in the Börzsöny Mts., 29.8.1985. Sporidesmiella hyatosperma (Corda) P.M. Kirk var, hyalosperma . Trans.Br.mycol.Soc. 79: 481, 1982. Conidiophores solitary, simple, straight or slightly flexuous, brown, 110-200 x 3-4.5 jum. Conidia acrogenous, solitary, clavate to obovoid, truncate at the base, 4-distoseptate, pale brown, 19-24 x 8-10 jam. This fungus was firts reported from Hungary from decaying culms of Phragmites australis collected in the Kiskunság National Park (GÖNCZÖL & RÉVAY 1983 in press.) - Present collection from dead wood, near Rejtek in the Biikk Mts., 11.10.1984. Sporidesmium dennisii (M.B.Ellis) P.M.Kirk, Trans .Br .mycol.Soc . 80: 462, 1983. (Pl.IV. Fig. 3.) Conidiophores solitary, erect, simple, straight or slightly flexuous, up to 260 jum long, 6-7 jum wide. Conidia solitary, acrogenous, ellipsoid, truncate at the base (2-) 3-septate, brown, apical cell paler than the others, 25-30 x 9-11.5 Aim. This is an apparently rare species, it had not been found in Hungary previously. - Found on rotten wood of Alnus glutinosa , near the stream Morgó-patak in the Börzsöny Mts., 29.3.1985., 29.8.Î985. Sporidesmium goidanicnii (Rambelli) Hughes, N.Z.Jl. Bot. 17: 162, 1978. (Pl. III. Fig. 3.) Conidiophores solitary, erect, cyiinarical, dark brown, up to 140 jum long and 4-6 jum thick. Conidia cylindrical, truncate at base, rounded at apex, pale brown, (5-, 7-) 6-septate, (33)44-50(64) x 6-7, 5 jum. This fungus was found in Hungary on one occasion and reported as Endophragmia alternata Tubaki & Saito, growing on strobili of Alnus glutinosa (GÖNCZÖL & RÉVAY 1983). - Collected on spruce cone of Picea abies from the stream Pénz-patak in the Biikk Mts., 30.5.1985. Sporoschisma mirabile Berk, et Br. in Berk, Gdnr' s Chron. p. 540, 1847. (Pl.IV. Fig. 4.) Capitate hyphae mixed with phialophores, 90-190 x 5-7 jum wide at base, dark brown, hyaline at apex which 5-8 jum wide. Phialophores solitary or in groups, , cylindrical, 180-270 x 7-11 jum, dark brown. Phialides suocylindrical up to 160 jum long, 12-15 Aim wide. Conidia cylindrical with flattened ends, 3-septate, dark brown, smooth-walled, 32-35 x 11-12.8jum. Common on rotten wood. It was reported from Hungary by HOLUBOVÁ-JECHOVÁ (1979). - Collected on rotten wood, near the stream Garadna in the Biikk Mts., 8.10.1985. Sterigmatobotrys macrocarpa (Corda) Hughes, Can. J. Bot. 36: 814, 1958. Conidiophores solitary, branched penicillateiy at the apex forming a stipe and head, blackish brown, 170-300 x 6-7 jum, head 60-70 x 50-60yum. Conidia aggregated in slimy heads, slightly curved or straight, broadly fusiform, 2-septate, at first hyaline later the middle ceil brown and the end cells pale brown, 20-24 x 6-7 jum. - Collected on rotten wood, near the stream Garadna in the Biikk Mts, 11.10.1984. Stigmina longispor a (Eiiis) Hughes, N.Z.Jl.Bot. 16: 353, 1978. (Pl.II. Fig. 4.) Sporodochia punctiform, black. Coniaiophores in fascicles, simple, pale brown, 25-35 x 3-4Aim. Conidia fusiform, truncate at trie base, 60-80 x 6-7 jum, at the apex sometimes a thin spherical sheath, 9-13- septate (mainly 12-septate). ELLIS (1976) described Bactrodesmium longisporum from dead wood of Alnus ? collected in Great Britain. HUGHES (1978) transferred the name of the species to the genus of Stifcmina . This is not a very common species, the present collections constitute the first record of S. longispora írom Hungary. - Collected on rotten wood of Alnus glutinosa , near the stream Morgó-patak in the Börzsöny Mts. ; 29.3.1985., 29.8.1985. Xylomyces chtamydosporis Goos, Brooks et Lamore, Mycologia, 69: 280, 1977. (Pl.V. Fig.l.) Xylomyces was described as a new genus GOOS, BROOKS et LAMORE (1977) from dead, submerged wood, collected in the Saugaaicket River in the Rhode island. It was characterised by large, 100450 x 35-42jum, fusiform, blackish brown chiamydospores, which are solitary or in chains.During our studies on the wood-innabiting iüngi of both terrestrial and aquatic habitats, this interesting fungus it was found on submerged wood collected from a mountain stream. Mycelium immersed and superficial, composed of dark brown, anastomosing hyphae, 5-13 Aim in diam. Chiamydospores intercalary, in chains of 2 to 6-7, with 5-10 septa, fusiform, first hyaline then becoming dark brown, 200-500 x 37-43 Aim. This is the first record of X. chiamydoaporis from Hungary and to my knowledge this collection represents the first Euiopean record of this species. - Collected on dead wood of Fagus siivatica, from the stream Pénz-patak in the Biikk Mts., 30.5.1985., 7.10.1985. In this paper 36 recoros of 25 fungus species belonging to 20 genera are listed. Of these
