Mrs. Magdolna Klemm The propaguliferous variety of the species reported as very rare in Hungary has not yet been published from Hungary. This variety can be distinguished from var. tenuirostris by the gemmae on the ventral surface of the leaves and on the axillary and other rhizoids. The size of the upper lamina cells is a distinguishing feature as well, being 8-10jam in var. gemmiparus and 10-11.5 Aim in var. tenuirostris . This variety is a rare taxon with a ratner disperse distribution (ZANDER 1978). In Europe it has been reported from France and Switzerland (SCHIMPER 1876). Outside Eu­rope it is known from India, Mexico, Cuba and Brazil (ZANDER 1978). The gemmae of var. gemmiparus are of different shape.
