Szolláth, György: Data to the flora and vegetation of the Gerecse Mountains I.
(+ - 3) and Andropogon ischaemum (1-5) are the herb layer forming species, in a smaller extent Stipa capillata (1) and the other character species of this community: Cleistogenes serotina (+). According to Zólyomi (1958) the primarily characteristic species is Sterabergia colchiciflora but I have found this plant mainly in open herb spots. This community of Magos-hegy and Nagy-Gete is composed mainly of Adonis vernalis (+ - +-1), Thymus marschallianus (+), Iris pumila (+), Allium flavum (+ - 1), Potentilla arenaria (2 - 3-4), Seseli osseum (+), S. hippomarathrum (+). Serratula radiata (+), etc. It must be mentioned that the mixture of these three plant communities changing with karst scrub-forest (Cer.Q.) gives a very special face to Magos-hegy; for this reason - and because it is the living place of the dwarf almond plantation (Amygd.) - it is worth protecting. Salvio - Festucetum sulcatae pannonicum (Zólyomi 1958, Soó 1964) (On the basis of 5 samples) There are only broken stands of the original vegetation of loess stretching as far up as the foot of the block because of the previously mentioned reasons. The herb layer - composed mainly of the substituting Festuca pseudovina for Festuca rupicola (1 - 3) - reflect the effects of grazing. Nevertheless, the typical species of loess grasslands (Salv.-F.s.pann. ) are present, namely Salvia nemorosa (+), Cytisus austriacus (+ - 1), Euphorbia pannonica (+), Taraxacum serotinum (+), Astragalus onobrychis fl - 3), Artemisia campestris (+), Agropyron pectinatum (+), Viola ambigua (+). Festuca sulcata (+ - 1), Agropyron intermedium (+ - 1), Stipa capillata (1), etc. Among all, samples of this place refer to degraded stands in most part; some of them hardly reflect the original content of vegetation. The subendemical Globularia aphyllantes is present in the loess herb layer of Kis-ko as well. Finally let's mention the sand steppe surrounding Tokod where some of the typi -al species of Festucetum sulcatae danubiale (Zólyomi 1958) - Astragalus exscapus . Viola kitaibeliai ;a and Helichrysum arenarium - had also been found. Significant floristical data Cotinus coggygria Scop. - Formerly this species was known to be found only on Kecskehegy ; we have met it also on the plateau of Nagy-Gete where they grow in groups at the margin of deforestation. At present this habitat supposed to be the single locality since it will be destroyed at Kecske-hegy - or it has already been destroyed - by mining works. Astragalus vesicarius L. ssp. albidus (W. et K. ) Br-Bl. - This Pannonian subendemic (Soó 1966) subspecies has scattered localities in Hungary but it is not rare in the rock-vegetation of Magos-hegy and Nagy-Gete. Sternbergia colchiciflora W. et K. - This valuable, fairly rare species of our flora was also to be found on the southern exposed dry rock-vegetation of Magos-hegy and Nagy-Gete as well as on Hegyes-kő. Besides Dunántúli Középhegység it occurs sparsely on other part of the country. Soó (1973) does not mention the Gerecse Mts. among the habitats of Dunántúli Középhegység. Amygdalus nana L. - Two of its habitats had been found, both on the southern slopes of Magos-hegy. Data of the samples All of the samples were taken in Gete group in the Gerecse Mts. Querco petraeae - Carpinetum pannonicum (Zólyomi 1958, Soó 1964) 1. Nagy-Gete Height: 300-350 m; Exposition (=Exp. ): N-E; Angle of slope (=Ang.): 3°; Cover and height of the canopy layer (=A): 80%, 13 m; shrub layer (=B): 10%, 1 m; herb layer (=C): 80%, 40 cm; Date: 21. 9. 1977.
