Clitopilus hobsonii (BERK, et BR. ) P. D. ORTON (Fig. 7. ) Of a world-wide distribution, buta rare species. KÜHNER - ROMAGNESI (1953) consider it, however, a rather common species. It is perhaps owing to its easily mis identifiable appearance that it often escaped attention. Its small, oblique cap is white or creamy, finely felty. The gills are first whitish, then rosy ochreous. The stem is absent or very short, excentrical. The spores are elliptical to almond-shaped with 5-8 (according to ORTON I960, with 7-12) longitudinal ribs, thus rounded polygonal in the superior view. It was collected on a rotting Populus stump in a mixed forest at Horány. Bolbitius lacteus LANGE LANGE ' s snow-white Bolbitius species (1940, 196 D) - originally known by four fruitbodies only - was considered by KONRAD - MAUBLANC (1948) identical with B. fragilis

, and KÜHNER - ROMAGNESI (1953) merely mention it in a remark. On the other hand, it appears as a distinct species in MOSER'

s (1967) work. At Horány, we succeeded to collect some wholly white specimens on decaying hay in a mixed wood, but the herbarial material was unfortunately lost. By a continued observation of the site, this lack could probably be remedied. The cap and the stem of the fungus were white. The yellowish colour characterizing B. vitellinus and its allies completely absent from them; nor did it resemble B. tener with a creamy and very glutinous cap (when young), but rapidly liquescent later and growing on fertilized soils (not Conocybe lactea
