L'udovit Hallon - Miroslav Londák: Sources and Possibilities of Research on Slovak-Austrian Economic Relations after the Second World War

Eudovit Hallon - Miroslav Londâk Conclusions The outcome of this review shows that the study of the independent development of Austrian-Slovak economic cooperation after 1945 in Slovak central archives will be possible with certain limitations, particularly concerning the years 1945-1950 and the period after 1960. The files of central economic bodies, institutions and companies in the Slovak National Archive, in the Archive of the Slovak National Bank, in the archive files of the subsidiary of the Czechoslovak Trade Bank and in some company archives can provide information about mutual trade, as well as about the transfer of technologies and specialized cooperation in different economic sectors. However, the knowledge gained in Slovak archives must be accompanied by research of central political institutions, governmental economic bodies and nationwide companies of former Czechoslovakia which are placed in archives of the Czech Republic. We have in mind the files of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Foreign Office, Czechoslovak Trade and Industry Chamber, nationwide foreign trade companies, as well as materials of central bodies of the Communist Party. Even though, a great part of the files is accessible with difficulties, it is necessary to try and study these materials. By summarizing the knowledge from Slovak and Czech archives we will be, in our opinion, able to make up a picture of the development of economic cooperation between Austria and Slovakia from 1945 to 1989. 302
