CIBAL, etc. will be strengthened and new organizations set up12. If Eastern Europe joins the West, this trend will be seen there too.

One does not have to be a prophet to foresee that in the coming decade, international relations between archives will be determined by socio-economic processes, over which we have virtually no control. What we can do, however, is to make every effort to get to know one another. The best remedy for prejudice and mistrust - which exist in politics - is experience. If we continue to garner foreign experience we will be able, no matter how little, to influence politics.
