Summary It is indubitable, that every individual is part of a community. His life has its rea­son for living only if he lives and works in favour of man and humanity. It is true, that if work, no matter what king of values it has, does not deal with and does not serve for real life, it cannot be useful. We want to say that from individuals, living in com­munity, is required to love people and to eliminate everything that hinders humanity and humanism. We consider humanism as the basis of andragogic, social, missionary, medical, educational or other work with marginalized Roma population living in ethnically segre­gated ghettos - settlements and town suburbs. At the same time we consider huma­nism as one of the circumstances of existence of Slovak society, but also as a mean of interpersonal relationships. We are convinced that andragogic, social and missionary workers, medical officers or teachers of elementary schools should have confidence in people, their intellect and skills. Doubly it is important for work with socially and economically degraded Roma people. Belief should give us strength to struggle with non-human expressions and negative phenomenon in the life of indivíduí nad also of whole human communi­ty. Without acquiring andragogy, psychology, special pedagogy, sociology or basis of social, missionary work and without the recognition of human existence of marginali­zed Roma people and our sense of work with them it is impossible to help them to reveal human basis and relations. After all, in our conditions, we can become experts of work with marginalized Roma people in 24 hours. However, we become really good experts only after years of everyday hard work with them. In every society we can see the positive, neutral and negative phenomenon of human life. They are conditioned by education, material security and level of society in the widest generalisation.
