There is great fear on the part of local authorities since they have no means to influence a potential process of this kind. This means that the eventual settlers14 would take exclusively the place of the Hungarian-speaking population. Obviously, this could have significant influence on the community life and could intensify the assimilation processes. For an accurate evalua­tion we should know the age-structure of the population and this was not the subject of our survey. We can only assess that a similar process may take place in 10-20 years time. This process will certainly radically change not only the ethnic composition of the community but also its present life
