Another elderly teacher was József Trócsányi who sat on the financial committee and taught German as well as subjects related to church law. István Harsányi Sr. was responsible for Old Testament theology, Old Testament exegesis and Hebrew grammar. The teaching of systematic theology was the task of Béla Nagy. János Marton taught the courses in church history with his usual sarcastic style. The above- mentioned Zoltán Szabó was in charge of practical theology while Ernő Mátyás was responsible for Greek grammar, New Testament hermeneutics and the history of Literature. Evidence of the durability of the teaching staff was the fact that seven or eight years later, that is, in the middle of the next decade, merely the elderly teachers were succeeded by new ones. Rácz was succeeded by Újszászy, Harsányi was succeeded by József Zsíros and Béla Nagy was succeeded by Béla Vasady. When Vasady left for Debrecen in 1934, Béla Nagy’s son, Barna Nagy, was appointed to his place. Nagy had not only studied under Karl Barth, the Swiss theologian who reformed European Protestant theology, but had also introduced and implemented his theological perspectives in Patak.
