Addigra a kiadó (a Bibliatársulat) eldöntheti, hogy a magyarázatos mellett érdemes-e közreadnia magyarázatok nélküli vagy minden utalást és szakaszcímet mellőző változatot. * ** ** *** * Abstract Preliminaries for an up to date Edition of the Traditional Hungarian Bible, the Revised Version of 1908 The first full protestant translation, i. e. the Vizsoly Bible of 1590 survived without considerable changes up to the turn of the 20th century. After an unsuccesfull revision of 1877 the British and Foreign Bible Society has promoted and sponsored the revision of 1908. No revision anymore, but a new Hungarian translation appeared in 1975. However the traditional revised form of the Scripture is still in use, being favorite of many readers and congregations. Yet its orthography became antiquated since the last century, and there are also inconsequencies at places in wording. An up to date version of teh revised version should be carefully planned. Modernised orthography is inevitable. All the references should be checked again, and footnotes inserted, when necessary. For the sake of readers also acvised the keyword system of the Chain-Ref- erenc Bible by Thompson to be translated into Hungarian, which was first published in the same year 1908. The present paper investigates problems and preparatory phases of this work to be done scrutinizing the manuscript notes and corrections professor K. Erdős, who read the Hungarian Bible of 1908 again and again, the New Testament more than 60 times between 1908 and 1970. He collected nearly 2 000 Bible editions, mostly Hungarian ones, and he was the first to publish in 1940 the detailed bibliography of all editions of the Vizsoly Bible. In 1908 the revised text was printed with summary after the number of chapters. In 1912 another format was produced, broken up according perikopes and with new titles for every of them. This was reprinted in the same form several times. Samples ot it show diffrent format possibly printed in the future.
