else is temporary. Their culture is characterised not by a lack of history, but by the insignificance of a coherent story. We cannot speak of a lack of systems, but of a specifically Gypsy way of systematisation. We cannot speak of a lack of creativity, but of a culture of using, that is, a culture of continuous creating. This means that they make use of everything: objects, languages, musical motives, fairytale elements, religious elements. Their ways of using will make the emerging culture Gypsy. In this process it is the moment that becomes eternal. Things eternal to us (god, gods) are interesting to them only to the extent of their capacity to relate to the moment, or to be used momentarily. Life is perceived as passing among things temporary, just as birth, marriage and death are not perceived as moments but as longer transitions. Due to the vulnerability of the community and of the individual a great deal of rites are attached to these. Thus, religiosity is not characterised by a lack of heavens, but by a lack of spatial imagination. Things make sense in so far as they can already or still relate to what is earthly. In the meantime fortune is decisive which they also try to influence by ritual actions or speeches. Temporariness in this form is eternity. AZ ÁTMENETISÉG KULI'ÚRÁIA 2013/1-2Sárospataki Füzetek tu
