1. Introduction

I

n the City of Souilliac, in the Dordogne, a department in the south-west of France, one can see this marvelous sculpture of a dancing Isaiah. It decorates the portal of the old abbey church of St. Marie. It is a famous sculpture the City of Soulliac is very proud of because it is one of the finest pieces of Roman art, dating from the first half of the 12th century. If you have the opportunity to stay in the Dordogne, do not forget to visit this sculpture and admire its beautiful details.
