Buzogány Dezső tásának gondolata életképes, perspektívája van és kivitelezhető, következésképpen hatalmas alapítvánnyal segítette hozzá az egyházat e merész terv megvalósításához. Az idő ebben is őt igazolta. Erdély Széchenyije volt-e ő, ahogyan sokan mondják? Amennyiben társadalmi és politikai tevékenységét nézzük, bizony hasonlítani lehet őt az anyaországi nagy politikushoz. Mégis hadd tegyük hozzá, valamiben több is volt Széchenyinél. Erdélyi volt Mikó Imre, és erdélyi karakteréről leválaszthatatlan ama lényeges személyiségi összetevő, amelyet így foglalhatunk össze: egyhá- zi/felekezeti elkötelezettség. Amíg az anyaországi politikusok, talán a liberalizmus hatására, részben vagy teljesen függetleníteni tudták magukat az egyháztól, addig Erdélyben ez másként működött. Itt sokkal jobban beivódott az emberi lelkületbe az egyháziasság, s ennek nyoma sok Mikó-féle cselekvésben megmutatkozott. Voltaképpen ez az elkötelezettség jelentette számára a cselekvési indítékot. Akkor, amikor szűkebb hazájából kifelé tekint, pl. rátok itt Sárospatakon és a Füzetekre, akkor is hazafelé néz, és azt az egyházat látja, amelytől kollégistaként és főgondnokként egyaránt rengeteget kapott. De ezzel tesz még valamit: a rátok figyeléssel jelzi azt is, amit már a reformáció óta tudunk, ha nem is tudatosult zsigereink és génjeink legmélyén: reformációi és nemzeti örökségünk okán együvé tartozunk. Summaray Variations on a Will; In memory of Imre Mikó General Superintendent Having been looked through Imre Milco’s Testament it can be stated that its composer appears as a brilliant businessman, who fully understands the whole process of money making as far as the stock selling is concerned. This is not a private testament but an open one for everybody. It is not a kind of spiritual testament either in which he inspires to follow a certain church movement or idea. There is no sign of nationalistic emotion in it either. It can be said that it is prosaic and pragmatic: he donates money and stocks to several church institutions, what’s more he also gives important advices to the main church leadership on how to administrate the institution. The testament of Imre Miko has two characteristics. In one hand, it is a mercantilist advices. On the other hand, it denotes a profound character of church-school relationship. The two characteristics are in close connection. He considers the school the „kitchen garden” (seminarium) of the church, where the seed of faith is spread for the first time in children’s life, and which is a special place for raising fragile human „plants” for the church. This is why he donates money to several educational institutions. But the greatness of his generosity was not only mere financial. He also provides the necessary spiritual provision by subscribing for them, on his own money, several periodicals among which these is the Sárospataki Füzetek too, which had been subscribed for even before its publishing process came to an end. Well, this is the connection between Miko and the Transylavanian Reformed Church and the newspaper published in Sárospatak 150 years ago. 68 Sárospaíaki Maid
