Graduált rendelő levél(1650) Summary Ordering a Gradual In the Reformed Church the order of worship, developed from the elements of the medieval mass, consisted of the presentation of texts sung and recited by the minister, the cantor and a choir organised from the schoolchildren. In the worship service Hungarian versions and translations of psalms, hymns, antiphons and responses were sounded; all of them in prose, with the exception of hymns. The agenda that recorded these pieces was called a ‘gradual’, on the basis of a medieval type of the missal. In the lh"1-!/1' century they were published in print also, but they were available to the congregations mostly in manuscript copies. This study presents and analyses a letter, dated in 1650, ordering such a manuscript gradual. Sámpiilaki Fii/,eld 81
