THE MESSENGER Newsletter of the Kossuth Club January-February 2007. Vol. 13. No. 1-2. Donations by the Kossuth Club in 2006. As of the end of 2006 the Club has made the following charitable donations: Donation to Amount Scholarships in Tokaj, Hungary $1,500.00 Scholarships to Liszt Academy artists $1,000.00 Liszt Academy Foundation $8,000.00 Orphanage in Déva, Transylvania $3,500.00 Albert Wass Hungarian School, Sarasota $600.00 Bolyai School in Szabadka $2,100.00 Total: $16,700.00 Upcoming Meetings. The annual meeting will be held on Monday, January 29 at 6:00 PM in the Gulf Gate Library (7112 Curtiss Avenue, Sarasota). There will be a review and evaluation of the events organized in 2006 and the election of the Board of Directors for 2007. Only members with current membership are eligible to vote. The cost for 2007 is $20.00 for single, and $30.00 for family membership. If you are unable to attend, please fill out and return the enclosed proxy to The Kossuth Club, P. O. Box 19774, Sarasota, FL 34276. On Thursday, February 1 at 4:30 PM in the Selby Library (1331 First Street, Sarasota) there will be an illustrated presentation by Dr. Steven Csaba Pádár about his trip to Transylvania in May 2006. Proceeds from the meeting will benefit Hungarian schools and orphanages in Transylvania. Hungarian Church Services in Sarasota. The Magyar Christian Church of Sarasota will have a Christmas Eve service Sunday, December 24 at 3:00 PM and an ecumenical service on February 4 in the Church of the Cross (3005 S. Tuttle Ave.). Roman Catholic Mass will be celebrated in Hungarian on January 14 and on February 11 at 2:00 PM in the Church of the Incarnation (2901 Bee Ridge Road). 4
