In preparation for the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian revolution, the Hungarian American Coalition and Lauer learning launched www,freedomfighter56.coni. an oral history web site. Participants and/or eyewitnesses to the revolution tell their personal stories and recollections, in English and Hungarian, in order to make the revolution come alive for future generations. Hungarian Culture through a Photographer’s Eyes. On Monday November 7 at 4:30 PM in the Selby Library (1331 First Street, Sarasota) our guest lecturer will be Stephen Spinder, an American photographer who lives in Budapest and has published two books, “Budapest through my Lens” and “Ten Years in Transylvania. ” They would make ideal Christmas gifts for our children, grandchildren and American friends. Thanksgiving Luncheon. You are cordially invited to our Thanksgiving Luncheon Saturday November 19, 11:30 AM, at Michael’s’ On East (1212 East Ave. South, Sarasota). Lunch will be served at 12:00 noon and there is a choice of glazed chicken or sautéed mahi mahi, both served with salad, rice, broccoli, coffee and tea, and chocolate törte. There will be a cash bar. The price of $27.00 per person includes a classical music recital by soprano Agnes Klauder with pianist Carolyn Troupin. Ms. Klauder is a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville and has performed with regional opera companies in the United States and abroad. She will sing songs and arias by Debussy, Delibes, Verdi, Bellini and Lehár. Please send your checks made out to the Kossuth Club by November 14 and indicate whether you would like chicken or fish. Memberships and Sponsorships. In spite of rising postal rates and other price increase, our membership fee has not been raised in seven years. It will continue to remain $20.00 for single and $30.00 for family membership in 2006. However, we ask you to kindly consider sponsoring our celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian revolution by making a donation to help us defray the cost of organization. Our sponsors will be recognized by name, or may remain anonymous in the 50th anniversary program book. You can become a sponsor with a minimum donation of $56.00 (in the Spirit of 1956), or higher (see Table on p. 2.). Donations are tax deductible and should be sent to The Kossuth Club, P. O.
