THE MESSENGER Newsletter of the Kossuth Club September, 2004. Vol. 10. No. 6. Donations to Hungarian Schools in Transylvania. The Kossuth Club donated $5,000 to the Sapientia Foundation for the Hungarian University in Kolozsvár, and $2,700 to the school operated in Csíkszereda by the Archbishopric of Gyulafehérvár for scholarships to 45 Hungarian students. Ticket sales and contributors to last year’s benefit concerts made these donations possible. Hungarian Filmfestival. In June and July we organized the first Hungarian Filmfestival in Sarasota and presented three classic Hungarian films in the Selby Library for the benefit of the Kossuth Scholarship Fund. We received $675 from donations and gave $500 of that to the Hungarian Bolyai School in Szabadka as a travel grant to enable their students’ participation in an international mathematics competition in Nagybobrony. Discounted Opera Tickets. Group discount is available to Kossuth Club members for the March 18 2005 double bill, the performance of Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci in the Sarasota Opera. Orchestra seats (rows 15-16) cost $56 and mid-balcony seats are $34 per person. Please order your tickets from the Kossuth Club (P. O. Box 19774, Sarasota, FL 34276) no later than September 30 Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
