December 192 7 - for his book design activity and his work for the Leipzig exhibition he was chosen honorary member of the German Book Designers’ Association. 1927 - wrote an introduction to the Hungarian chapter of the catalogue of the Leipzig Book Exhibition. During 1927-28 he carried on an ardent debate in the periodical “Magyar Grafika” with Elemér Czakó who, under the pen-name Csipio Paprikanusz (Hot Pepper), attacked him for his state­ments. May 1928 - Imre Kner became the vice-president of the Magyar Könyv- és Reklámművészek Egyesülete (Association of Hungarian Book and Advertising Artists). September 1928 - as a delegate he delivered a lecture at the 2nd International Congress of Master Printers at Cologne under the title “Notwendigkeit und Aufgaben einer Internationa­len Buchdrucker-Organisation” (The necessity and tasks of an international organization of printers). He urged that the economic and organizational issues of the trade be stronger emphasized and that the results of scientific research be introduced into practice more effectively. 1928 - exhibited at the book art section ofthe PRESS A exhibition at Cologne and was chosen member of the honorary pres­idium. 1928 - the company acquired the Bodoni type, and pronounced in favour of the undecorated classical typography. The Yearbook of Magyar Bibliophil Társaság (Hungarian Bib­liophile Association) which was printed with the above type, contains an important article by Imre Kner, on the limits of typography and book art. January 30, 1929 - worked out a plan for the competition of the most beautiful books for the Magyar Bibliophil Társaság. 200
