13. On every day of the week of mourning, let at least two ol the members of the Holy Association go (to the house of mourning) to comfort the bereaved. 14. Let every member of the Holy Association conduct himself with love and friendship (towards each other). And if two should quarrel, let them not preserve their hatred (beyond) that day, (but) apologise to each other, and let them not be reluctant to forgive. 15. Let every man pursue the dignity of the Holy Association, so as not to impair their honour with some trifling matter, particularly not with indiscretion. 16. Whoever holds a Kiddush (hospitality linked with wine blessing) on the day of divine service and Jahrzeit (anniversary of the death), in exchange for both let him give six pence to the Holy Association. 17. In the B'SHALAH weekly section and on those days when the dead are remembered (on the occasion of mazkir), let all the good deeds (appeal of the Torah) be those of the Holy Association, and they are obliged to ascend (to the Torah) in the order of the members of the Holy Association, and (at such times) more can be invited, up to 11 men, together with the maftir (the reader of the section from the prophets). 18. The charitable donations, offered for the (remembrance of) souls, belong to the Holy Association. On the eve of Yom Kippur, the elder (treasurer) must remain in the synagogue to collect debts. 19. At the time of shmini atzeret (the autumn closing festival), in the afternoon let the members of the Holy Association gather together in the house of the treasurer, and let him spread the table for them with fruit and wine, just so that the gathering for a holy purpose may be about the issue of exercising charity, and not, God forbid, about pointless matters. And towards evening, when they go to the synagogue, let the elder distribute torches of wax to each one of them, and let then go to the synagogue with joy, with (the torches) burning, and let the community wait (for them) with the prayers until they arrive. 20. The elder (treasurer) of the Holy Association should not be a charity elder, and the second (nomination) should be rejected as against the first. 21. Anyone who with a pure heart is prepared to work together with the members of the Holy Association, let him bring his idea to the elder, and the elder will present his request before the Holy Association, and if he is eligible, and it is desirable for them, they should call him in and tell him he should be in service for one year, so they can see if he is suitable. And when the year is over, they should do with him as they decide, based on the majority of the Holy Association members. 22. No man can withdraw from any matters of the Holy Association - from the exercise of charity, and in particular they should not disdain them, or offend their dignity. And if someone does not marry for three years, let him not be among the nominated within the Association. 23. An underage nominated member of the association should not sit at table with the rest of the Holy Association members before his wedding. 24. Single and unmarried young men may participate in the Holy Association until the day of their wedding, and after their wedding, let them first have a two or three year (probation) in the society, preceding (their participation in) the assembly. 25. Let them not refer to the (burial) implements by profane words, and all this (applies) to the period when dealing with the outsider (= the deceased). 26. Let them not lend (these) implements for profane use, as (these) have been set aside for religious practise (mitzvah). 27. And anyone who sets up a gravestone, if he is a member of the Holy Association, let him give 40 pence to the Holy Association treasury. 28. The application fee is 10 pence, the registration fee 10 pence. 29. The "charity saves from death" (alms-box income) belongs to the Holy Association, and (that) money which is offered for the purpose of visiting the sick belongs to the Holy Association. 30. On the subject of visiting the sick, (if someone) has been lying on a sickbed for three days, the elders are obliged to send (someone) to the sick man and to ask him if it would be good for him, if members of the Holy Association were to come to him, (and then) let them take out the (ballot) papers with all the names of the Holy Association members, to draw lots for attendance.
