Rezümék
Rezümék Summarie Ferenc Rakoczi II in Szabolcs and Szatmar Counties (July-October 1703) By Istvan Balogh The book was first published in 1976. Its revised and enlarged second edition is published on the occasion of the third centenary of the outbreak of Rakoczi's insurrection. The volume follows Ferenc Rakoczi's travel and describes his organizing work in Szabolcs and Szatmar counties at the beginning of the insurrection following the significant events that happened in Bereg. In the book we can find an analysis with text and several documents from 1703, which have been preserved in the Szabolcs-SzatmarBereg County Archives, in facsimile. The author's original treatise studied the exciting initial stage's events of Rakoczi's insurrection that took place in the District of the Upper-Tisza. His former work has been completed with the latest results of his researches. Besides the 12 documents that were already published in the first edition three new documents are published in this volume. The texts can be read in facsimile as well as in transcription. (In some cases they are also translated from Latin into Hungarian). The volume is coloured with pictures that are mainly related to the county during the period of Rakoczi's insurrection. The sovereign stayed here from the middle of July until the middle of October 1703. He gave out patents, wrote letters and negotiated. His presence legalized the insurrection. These three months were of vital importance for the movement. It was at that stage that the agrarian riot turned into a war of independence all over the country.
