Ötfogatú ekhós szekér (Nyíregyháza Vidéke) ÁGOTA HENZSEL: The Cúgos Company of Nyíregyháza The Cúgos Company started to work with eight four-horsed and eight coachmen in Nyíregyháza in 1835. Its main task was to redeem the so-called 'forspont'duty, which was a burden on the town undertaken mainly by the toftmen. The company worked mainly for the county and the army and was payed transport charges as was the rule but it was also employed by the town itself. In return for the support the company got from Nyíregyháza, horse-drawn traffic was done free of charge within the limits of the town but that was charged beyond it. The crisis and disappearance of the successful venture were caused both by the economic recession of the 1860s and the looseness experienced among the members concerning paying.
