The manor used its own barley. Hops, too, grew behind the palace gardens, though it was not enough in quantity. That is why hops and wild hops were brought in from the nearby Bag village. With 35 brewing sessions a year, the brewery produced between 941-1,127 hectolitres per annum. Per occasion, 40 kilos of barley were used to brew 50 akós of beer. In 1809 the master brewer was Ferenc Teutsch, but we have no records about the operator after that date. The brewery stood at the corner of the Hatvanas Street and Mártírok Road today, on the spot of the building at the address Kossuth Square 12. The brewery has become part of local historical memory, and in the sixties Hatvanas Street was named Sörház köz (Beerhouse Alley), while Mártírok Road was named Sörház utca (Beerhouse Street). 50
