It blocks those receptors of the nervous tissue and the brain that would react with the messages of adenosine, the compound that indicates tiredness. Thus it is able to maintain alertness and attention, as an addition it may increase our capabilities of physical exertion, too. It enhances cardiac action, metabolism and respiration, and increases blood circulation. It expands the blood vessels of the brain and tightens those of the intestines. Its diuretic action is equally well-known. When it is evacuated from the organism, one will suddenly feel an insurmountable sleepiness and fatigue. ...a little economic geography Coffee is grown in the „coffee belt" between northern latitude 23 and southern latitude 25 in about 80 tropical or subtropical countries. However, only somewhat more than half of them grow and export considerable amounts. The coffee production of the world amounted, in 20082009, to 135 million sacks (1 sack = 60 kg). Coffee is, after oil, the merchandise of the second best turnover. In the coffee industry 20 million people work all over the world, from them 5 million in Brazil.
