From 1 9 89 to present times National Catering Company merged with Hungarian State Railways Ltd. in 1989 and it was renamed MÁV Catering and Tourism Directorate. First lease of small enterprises (this system roughly corresponded to the one in pre-Communist times), then pre-privatisation started in 1991. The privatisation of the chain began in the following year. The newly established Resti Ltd. was a joint venture set up with Hungarian State Railways Ltd; the latter transferred its stock, equipment and the usufruct of its rooms to Resti Ltd. - however, transfer of usufruct was done for payment. Mobile service and ground service split up; Hungarian State Railways Ltd. has remained responsible for mobile service, while Resti Ltd. has had exclusive rights to provide the ground service. Restaurant cars are operated by leaseholders. Now catering on trains is done by Catering Centre, which operates within MÁV-START Ltd. You can use Catering couchettes and sleeping cars on the railway lines of eight European counties, or you can eat and drink in Catering restaurant cars on the railway lines of six countries. The main destinations are Munich, Venice, Vienna and Brasov but you can reach the seaside by train in the summer - you can travel to Greece, Bulgaria and Croatia. Further new destinations were added in December 2008: Frankfurt, Berlin and Hamburg. Further destinations are yet to be added... 102. There is no time to waste in the kitchen
