Foreword i Az Országos Szikvízkészítő Ipartestület nevében köszöntök mindenkit, aki kezében tartja könyvünket. Meggyőződésem, hogy akkor lehet sikeres a jövőnk, ha megőrizzük hagyományainkat, és tiszteletben tartjuk iparos elődeink emlékét. Ezért is szeretnénk megörökíteni a magyarországi szikvízgyártó ipar történetét, és a teljesség igénye nélkül bemutatni azokat, akik szakmánkban valamilyen szempontból meghatározó szerepet töltöttek be az elmúlt években. A gyönyörű formájú és szebbnél szebb színű üvegek az elmúlt idők néma tanúi, ha mesélni tudnának, elmesélhetnék népünk búját-baját, örömét, egészen 1848-tól, hiszen kultuszitalunkat szinte mindenki fogyasztotta. A szikvizet nemzetünk történetének nehéz éveiben nemcsak az üzlet lehetősége, hanem a szakmánkban működők elhivatottsága és nem utolsó sorban a fogyasztók szeretete tartotta életben. A szódavíz megtalálható a háztartásokban, a kisvendéglőkben és a munkahelyeken, mára a magyar gasztronómia szerves részévé vált. Szomjunkat oltja, és felüdít. Kedves Olvasók, arra kérem Önöket, ha könyvünk sorait olvassák, gondoljanak azokra a kollégáinkra, munkatársainkra, akik hóban-fagyban vagy rekkenő hőségben kemény munkával igyekeztek ellátni szódavízzel vevőiket, túlélve két világháborút, gazdasági világválságot, forradalmakat, az államosítás szörnyűségét és a szocializmus éveit. Megtisztelő feladatom, hogy köszönetet mondani mindazoknak, akik segítették munkánkat e könyv kiadása során. In the name of the Hungarian Soda Manufacturing Guild I would like to give a hearty welcome to all readers of this book. I do believe that we face a bright future if we perpetuate our traditions and treasure our craftsmen's memory. That is why we would like to record the history of the soda industry in Hungary and give a non-exhaustive picture of those who, for one reason or another, has played a decisive role in this trade in the past few years. The beautifully shaped and coloured bottles are silent witnesses of the past, and could they tell stories, they would tell us about all the sad and happy days of this country from as far back as 1848, as our cult drink was drunk almost by everyone. During the hard days of our nation's history, soda water survived not only due to the good opportunities in business, but also to the devotion to the trade and, last but not least, to the consumers' adoration. Soda water can be found in the households, taverns and workplaces; today it is an inseparable part of the Hungarian gastronomy. It quenches your thirst and makes you fresh. Dear Readers, when reading this book, please, think of the colleagues of ours who were purposed to supply the buyers with soda water by working hard on icy or sultry days, be it winter or summer time, who survived two world wars, economic crises, revolutions, the horrible time of nationalization and the years of socialism. I feel honoured to have the opportunity to say thanks to all those who helped us with our work and publishing this book.
