Simon Géza Gábor: „Csillogó fekete lemezeken…” 100 éves a magyar hanglemezgyártás és -forgalmazás (Budapest, 2008)

The Socialist advertising record The first wave of Socialist advertising records arrived in the early fifties. Some were in the form of company direct advertising, some as light songs cloaked in music for dancing. Interestingly, the advertising record industry took the foreign example of picture postcards with sound. They were distributed on the Colorvox label. These were also produced on commission for the German Demo cratic Republic (GDR) and other markets. The breakthrough of prose records Following the humorous early twentieth century recordings only very few prose gramophone records appeared between the two world wars. The number of story and poetry records was tiny. Records of poetry by state-favoured poets and excerpts from popular dramas, particularly monologues, were published in greater volume as cultural values were emphasised. Benkó Dixieland Band Today the best-known Hungarian jazz band in the world, the Benkó Dixieland Band was formed in 1957 by Sándor Benkó from technically superb young musicians. A huge concert was organised in the Budapest Sport Hall to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Also the best-managed Hungarian jazz band, it has reached all the corners of the world and has been the first Hungarian jazz band to play in many places.
