In memory of a music-loving dog The image of Nipper the music-loving fox terrier taken from British artist Francis Barraud's painting His Master's Voice became known when the British Gramophone Company started to use the picture for their advertising in 1899. The rights to the trademark became the property of the Victor Talking Machine Company in 1901. The company founded the record label His Master's Voice, and its various equivalents in German, English, French, Italian and other languages. Everyone recognises the picture. The Durium Record Company Ltd. The company was founded on 3 r December 1932 by Péter Pál Kelen, the top Hungarian representative of Durium Records Ltd. (London - Zug - Zürich). The label, known today as the Pátria group (Durium/Patria, Kristály K.PP, Pátria, Pátria/Ultravox, Telefunken, Levente), was one of the two foremost Hungarian-owned record companies between the two world wars. They had their first successes mainly with the production of various styles of lighter music, jazz and folk recordings. Their classical music recordings were less popular. With the agreement of the director the company was nationalised to all intents and purposes in 1948; it was later disbanded. Some 55 Improvisations: the start of the jazz band in Hungary From the twenties all the Hungarian jazz bands were making recordings with leading Hungarian exponents of the style and with foreign guests performing in Hungary. This was an organic progression from the turn of the centurv raetime recordings.
