The Fedák The real star of the musical theatres in Hungarywas Sári Fedák. She led theatrical productions with new styles of music and she was the first to dance the cakewalk in a Hungarian theatre scandalising the audience. Her breeches roles achieved particular success; Fedák received the leading role in Pongrác Kacsóh's János vitéz (Sir John) with Vilma Medgyaszay playing Iluska alongside her. She made a huge number of recordings with various record companies. This contribution and its value have been almost totally ignored by research. Ragtimes on gramophone records; distributor of the new fashions The first glimmerings of 20 th century pop was the developing ragtime (-style) . It had its roots in European classical music and was first played in the USA and later also in Europe. The cake walk, ragtime, Alexander Ragtime Band, Turkey Trot, foxtrot and other dances of this kind prepared the way for the rock and roll madness.
