Saly Noémi: Café?! Változatok és változások Időszaki kiállítás 2007. február–május (Budapest, 2007)

A pesti ember az 1840-es évek eleje óta éhezheti a „kávéházi kert" örömeit. Ragaszkodik is hozzá. Annyira, hogy a legrettentőbb autóbűz sem képes elriasztani tőle. Amelyik kávés teheti, az első langyos tavaszi napon ki is telepszik asztalaival-székeivel a járdára. Ennél is tovább mentek az erzsébetvárosi udvarokon született „romkocsmák", fiatal vendégkörükkel, sok kávéházi sajátossággal. Sajátos színfoltot jelentettek a városban, nagyon szomorú, hogy számuk egyre fogy. És van néhány olyan hely is, ahol a „kert" nagyobb, mint maga a kávéház, s az aprónép márciustól novemberig rohangálhat az asztalok között. Példaértékű képviselőjük a lepusztult buszpályaudvarból született Tranzit Art Café, kiállításokkal, sokféle művészeti és irodalmi programmal, s a tetőt tartó pillérek között himbálózó függőággyal. The citizen of Pest has been able to enjoy the delights of the 'café garden' since the early 1840s and is deeply attached to it. So much so that that the most frightful stmk of traffic cannot scare them off. Every café owner who can do so will move out to the pavement with tables and chairs on the first warmish spring day. The 'pub ruins' created in the courtyards of Elizabeth town have gone even further with their young clientele and many café characteristics. They have created an original splash of colour in the city and it is very sad that they are decreasing in number. And there are a few places where the 'garden' is bigger than the café itself and children can rush around amongst the tables from March to November. With its exhibitions, various art and literary events and its hammocks swinging from pillars supporting the roof, the Tranzit Art Café, born of a derelict bus station, is a good example of these.
