Saly Noémi: Café?! Változatok és változások Időszaki kiállítás 2007. február–május (Budapest, 2007)

Bár a jól bevált sarkokról kiüldözték a régi helyeket, nyílt helyettük sok új „régi". Az úttörő a Külvárosi kávéház volt: mindenkit megelőzve, 1992-ben mutatta meg, hogyan lehet egy sosem volt üzletet úgy újraindítani, mintha közben nem telt volna el hetven-nyolcvan év. Ezek a kávéházak sokszor nemcsak berendezésükkel, hanem a szolgáltatásokkal is megteremtik a folytonosságot múlt és jelen között: sokféle újságot lehet nádkereten lapozgatni, kötényben suhan a pincér, a törzsvendég kéretlenül kapja szokott hosszú kávéját kevéske habbal. A Remízben esténként élő zene szól, a Spinoza pedig a terézvárosi és erzsébetvárosi „café chantanf-ok örökösének mutatkozik, színházi előadásokkal, koncertekkel, kabaréval. Although the old places were driven out of the tried and tested corners, many new 'old' places opened instead. There is live music in the evening at the Remiz and the Spinoza, with its theatre performances, concerts and cabarets, seems to have inherited the mantle of the „café chantant" of Theresa town' and 'Elizabeth town' districts.
